We're excited to bring a new apprenticeship opportunity in partnership with DEFRA (Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) starting in September 2021. We are looking for candidates interested in our Level 4 Software Development apprenticeship.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • What is the selection process? 

    After you register, we will ask you to start learning to code via an online platform, complete a coding challenge, and fill out a self-assessment form.

    It will be followed by a phone interview with the Admissions Manager at Makers.

    Once you apply, you will receive an email with the steps and timeline. Please check your spam/promotions folder.

    Below you can find the timeline. Please note that it's subject to change:

  • Registration: 14th June - 28th June
  • Coding tasks: 14th June - 8th July (you will have 10 days to complete these tasks from registration)
  • Makers Phone Interviews: 30th June - 16th July
  • Shortlist: 19th July
  • DEFRA Interviews: 15th - 21st July


  • I have a holiday booked for this year already. Can I take days off from my apprenticeship training?

    Unfortunately, other than public holidays, you can't miss more than two days during the 12-week course with Makers.

 

  • I haven't been living in the UK/EU for 3 years. Can I still apply?

    In order to be eligible for an apprenticeship opportunity, you either have to have lived in the EU or the UK for the last 3 years, or have refugee status in the UK.

 

  • I don't have GCSEs. Can I still apply?

    You can apply without GCSEs (or their international equivalent), but if you don't have them, please note that you will need to pass Functional Skills in Maths and English while you are on your apprenticeship placement.
