Deloitte is launching a new cohort of 25 engineers in Belfast to support urgent demand from its clients. This programme forms part of Deloitte’s vision for growth, community building, and talent development in the Northern Irish market - and offers a fast-track route into software engineering through immersive, high-quality training delivered by Makers.

The programme will be based in Deloitte’s Belfast office, with a hybrid delivery model and curriculum focused on contemporary digital skills - including Java, cloud, and AI. The Training Course

Join a cohort of twenty-five like-minded, aspiring developers and complete the prestigious 12-week Java Bootcamp delivered by Makers - a leading tech training provider with over a decade of experience. Training is delivered remotely by experienced Software Engineers, with key sessions and events hosted at Deloitte’s Belfast office.

The course will cover the core technologies you'll need for your career at Deloitte, including Java, cloud, and engineering best practices. The curriculum is tailored to the role, equipping you to succeed on projects that use modern development frameworks and tools.

You'll earn a salary of £20,000 from day one of training, rising to £25,000 during your placement at Deloitte. Once you've successfully completed the programme, you’ll join Deloitte’s Belfast practice, with an expectation to be in the office one to two days per week. The goal is to support your long-term progression into a permanent mid-level engineering role at the firm.

No prior coding experience is needed - just curiosity, commitment, and a willingness to learn.

Training Journey And Security Criteria

Successful applicants will join the Makers coding bootcamp in September 2025, while Deloitte carries out onboarding and security checks for the role. Please note that this opportunity is contingent on passing SC (Security Check) clearance, which will be processed during the bootcamp period. Once training is complete, candidates will begin a 12-month work-based placement with Deloitte, attending the Belfast office one to two days per week.

Security Clearance Information:
All successful candidates must pass Security Check (SC) clearance before being appointed. This requires a minimum of five years’ continuous residency in the UK. For more details about the SC clearance process, visit the official government guidance.

KEY INFORMATION 

Location Information - You live within a commutable from the Belfast office 

  • Bootcamp start date: September 2025
  • Placement start date: December 2025
  • Placement workplace: Hybrid with a minimum 1-2 days per week spent in the Belfast office
  • Salary: £20k throughout training and £25k once on placement.
  • Training: Your first 12 weeks will consist of learning to code, develop and integrate software – via Makers’ renowned bootcamp. This will include specialist training for the role at Deloitte.

    After training, you will be on placement for a further 12 months.

    Complete Our Coding Resources

    10 days to complete from when you register

    Complete our Intro to Python Course. After this you'll be set a coding challenge to check for coding aptitude. There is a minimum pass mark and you'll have 2 hours to complete. This will be sent after completing Step 1 of the form. 
  3. 03

    Video Interview

    30 Minutes

    Should you pass the coding challenge, you'll be invited to a remote video interview with a member of the Makers Selection Team. Interviews last half an hour and include time for questions.

    If you don’t pass on this occasion we can provide feedback on request and you are welcome to apply for other Makers opportunities after 3 months.

    Final Interviews With Deloitte

    Successful candidates will be invited to a 2 step interview stage with Deloitte.

    Onboarding

    TBC

    Successful candidates will be then be onboarded into Makers and via Deloittes onboarding process. This is when the security checks will begin.

Can I take days off during my placement?

Yes, you are entitled  to a holiday leave package during placement, however we can not allow for leave during Bootcamp Training. 

Do I have to live in the UK to apply?

Yes, this role is contingent on a successful candidate passing a security clearance with the HMG National Security Vetting service. You can find more details here.

What qualifications do I need to apply?

There are no minimum qualifications needed to apply. Graduates may also apply as well as those currently working in tech.
