As an apprentice at Moonpig, you’ll join an earn-while-you-learn programme designed to give you real-world experience, strong foundations, and room to grow.

You’ll start with expert-led training through Makers’ renowned bootcamp. Then, you’ll join Moonpig’s tech teams, building things that matter for the moments that matter.

The Start of Something Brilliant

Join a cohort of like-minded aspiring Software and Data Engineers and complete Makers’ prestigious bootcamp, delivered remotely by experienced professional coaches.

The course covers the essential technologies and skills you’ll need for your career at Moonpig.

From day one of the programme, you’ll be employed by Moonpig. Upon successful completion of your bootcamp with Makers, you’ll transition into your role with the Moonpig team, applying your new skills in a real-world environment.

Key Information - Apprentice Software Engineer

Competitive Salary: £28,000 per annum + bonus (subject to bonus eligibility terms).  Plus a range of benefits- including generous staff discount, wellbeing support, summer hours and more!

Location: 1 Balloon St, Manchester M4 4BE

Bootcamp duration: 16 Weeks

Work pattern: Hybrid working. Moonpig operate a trust-based flexibility to balance work and life; they focus on meaningful results and support individual work pattern needs.

Programme and role information: 18 month Fixed term contract, which includes a 16 week Makers bootcamp.

Key Information - Apprentice Data Engineer

Competitive Salary: £30,000 per annum + bonus (subject to bonus eligibility terms).  Plus a range of benefits- including generous staff discount, wellbeing support, summer hours and more

Location: 8-10 Back Hill, London EC1R 5EN

Bootcamp duration: 12 Weeks 

Work pattern: Hybrid working. Moonpig operate a trust-based flexibility to balance work and life; they focus on meaningful results and support individual work pattern needs.

Programme and role information: 18 month Fixed term contract, which includes a 12 week Makers bootcamp.

Interview with Makers

Late October to mid November

Our Selection Team will review your coding challenges. If you meet the essential criteria, you’ll be invited to a 1:1 interview.

Interview with the Moonpig Team

1st & 2nd December

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend interviews with Moonpig.

 

In-person assessment days:

 

- Data Engineering: 1st December - London
- Software Engineering: 2nd December - Manchester

 

The sessions will be centred around Moonpig’s values and are a great opportunity for you to meet the team and share more about yourself. Learn more about Moonpig’s values on their website.

Onboarding

15th December

Successful candidates will sign employment contracts, receive next steps, and complete the Makers onboarding process ahead of Day 1 of the bootcamp.

You won’t be able to take annual leave during the bootcamp training dates. After training, you can take holiday during your apprenticeship placement.

As an employee, you’re entitled to paid holiday. The exact number of days will be confirmed in your Moonpig employment contract, but you’ll receive at least 20 days per year plus bank holidays.

You must have lived in the UK or EEA for the past three consecutive years (not for education purposes), or hold:

  • Refugee status or indefinite leave to remain in the UK

  • Permission from the UK government to live in the UK (not for education purposes)

  • Pre-settled or settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme

If you’re unsure about your eligibility, please contact the Selection Team.

No formal qualifications are required. However, to comply with government funding rules, applicants must:

  • Be aged 16+ at the time of enrolment

  • Not be in full-time education

  • Not already hold a qualification at the same level in a related subject (e.g. computer science, data engineering).

No. This programme is for people ready to start a career in tech - particularly career switchers or recent graduates. If you're still enrolled in university or another training course, this opportunity isn’t suitable.
